The late director and filmmaker, Bert Kish entered this earth on the 15th of September 1965 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He grew up in Los Angeles, California, along with his brother named Colin as his siblings. As we already mention that he is the son of Albert Kish, a famous film director of his time.
By nationality, he is Canadian and belongs to a weight ethnical background. Regarding his education, Kish studied at Westmount High School. After graduating from there, he joined McGill University for his higher studies.
The late director started his career in the late 80s. Initially, he started directing commercials at Partners Films Company. In the year 2994, he edited the series colled “Jake and The Kid”. Some of his projects include Powerplay and “1 800 Missing”, Michael McGowan’s directorial debut “My Dog Vincent“, “Cypher” for Vincenzo Natali, “Top of the Food Chain“, much more.

Who is His Father?
Bert Kish’s father Albert was a Hungarian-Canadian film-director and editor. He was born in Eger, Hungary in 1937. His studies in Hungary were interrupted by the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. After that, he went to Austria. At the time in Vienna, he saw for the first time, films from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). The film greatly impressed him. He arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in March 1957. At that time, he arrived along with Bela Balazs’s book, “Film Kultura” under his arm.
For several years he worked in the private film and advertising industries in Montreal and Toronto. There he worked as a still photographer, cameraman, editor and later, as an independent filmmaker. In the year 1964, he joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) in Toronto. There he worked as a film editor, and within a period of three years. Then he was promoted to the senior film editor. In the year 1967, he joined the NFB in Montreal for a long and distinguished career during which time he has directed and edited over 30 films.
In the year 1973, he received a Senior Arts Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and spent 4 months at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest Hungary. He has maintained a lifelong interest in photography. His photographs have appeared in several publications and exhibitions. Bert Kish’s Death
Sadly, Kish passed away on 24 May 2017 which was a great loss to his family and friends. After his sudden death, there were outpouring condolence messages from his friends and fans. According to IMBD, he died due to cancer. He died two years after the death of his father.
His father had also passed away from cancer in Toronto General Hospital. In October 2015, his father died of cancer at the Toronto General Hospital.
