Canadian former Ice hockey player who has played in the National Hockey League for 12 seasons. Bobby Orr is recognized as one of the greatest ice hockey players of all time.

The former NHL player Bobby Orr was born on March 20, 1948, under the star sign Pisces. He was born as Robert Gordon Or to parents Doug Orr(father) and Arva Steele(mother). His birthplace is Parry Sound, Ontario in Canada. His father was a hockey player who later joined the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. And his grandfather also a sportsperson who was a soccer player.

Bobby has four siblings, two sisters named Patricia Orr and Penny Orr and two brothers named Ronnie Orr and Doug Orr Jr. By nationality, Bobby is a Canadian and his ethnicity is white. As of 2019, Bobby is 71 years old.

Professional Career

Bobby started skating since his early age of four. According to his early life info, he began learning Hockey when he was five years old. Since then he played several hockey tournaments in the defense position. Later in 1961, he started his professional career by playing for Youth Hockey Tournaments. In the year 1962, he signed a contract with Bruins.

He made his debut as a junior in the new Metro Junior league. He played two seasons and made 38 goals with 94 points. In the season 1966- 1967, he made his professional debut against the Detroit Red Wings. He finished the season with 13 goals and 28 assists. For his performance, he also gained the Calder Memorial Trophy and named the league’s outstanding rookie.

He got injured in the next season but he managed to play in 46 games and got his name in NHL’s first All-star Team. He then made his first hat-trick in the season of 68-69 against Chicago despite the injuries. After that, he also led his team to the playoff in the 1972 season and scored a winning goal against New York to grab the championship title. During that season, he was awarded the MVP award.

Furthermore, he also made the record of the most point in a game by a defenceman scoring 3 goals and 4 assists against New York Rangers in 1973. In June 1976, Bobby signed with Chicago Black Hawks but he could play only 26 games due to the knee injuries. And in 1978, he gets retired from his playing career.

In his playing career, he has made a total of 270 goals and 645 assists in 657 games in his name. He scored nine hat-tricks and 40 goals in a single season. In the year 1970, he was awarded the Lou Marsh Trophy. He also the Art Ross Trophy two times.
